It’s Time to Drive a Tuk Tuk (All Details in a nutshell)

We Tuk Tuk Rental in Negombo are indeed glad to help you to organize things that are required for you to be eligible to drive in Sri Lanka.

1. Tuktuk drivers licence

A special licence is required for you to drive a TukTuk in Sri lanka. There are couple of ways to get your licence through TukTuk Rental Negombo.

  1. We can get the driving licence for you even before your arrival to Sri Lanka, provided you have an International Driving Permit (IDP) .

Expenditure –  40 Euro (includes documental process and service charge)

  1. We will direct you to the Automobile Association of Ceylon to get the special Sri Lankan licence for you, provided you have an IDP

Expenditure –  35 Euro (Excludes photo & photo copies charges)

N.B.

  • Please note that this process takes 4 hours on a week day (Auto Mobil Association- Issuing Licence Office is opened on week days from 8.00 am – 3.00 pm. &  closed on weekends and public holidays)

 

  • TukTuk Rental Negombo would suggest going for the first option to save your valuable time & if you go for the first option, please inform me 04 days prior to your visit.

Note by : Required to have Motor Car or Three-wheeler License to obtain Sri Lankan Tuk Tuk (Three-wheeler) Driving License. Following Documents are required for the process.

  • International Driving License Copy
  • A Passport Copy
  • A passport size photo

2. Travel Insurance

Included Comprehensive insurance which covers the damage to our Tuk Tuk.

The full insurance is for the Tuk Tuk.

3. The driving lesson

To make your driving comfortable, A One hour driving lesson and overview of basic vehicle maintenance will be given by a TukTuk Rental Negombo qualified driver before you start your journey.
